Historical Romance

Torn from his mother’s arms and spirited away by his nurse, Liam believes he is a true son of Scotland. Trained as a loyal soldier, he gladly serves his mentor, Laird Greysen. But Liam’s birth dictates a different destiny. He is the rightful Duke of Ravenwood, whose family perished in a fire set by Reginald Fenwick, his father’s steward. In the guise of a Scottish groomsman, Liam returns to England, vowing to wrest control of the demesne from Fenwick.  

In Ravenwood, Liam is quickly drawn into a skirmish defending Ella, a fiery-tempered daughter of a baroness. A virtual slave to her nasty aunt and uncle, the violet-eyed orphan longs to escape their abuse. Before fists fly, Fenwick interrupts and develops a lecherous interest in Ella. She accepts Fenwick’s offer court her, unaware his true plan is to enter into a marriage of convenience while he continues his hedonistic lifestyle.

Liam’s advisors urge him to ignore Ella’s plight so his identity will not be discovered prematurely.  Will Liam imperal his quest to regain control of Ravenwood to rescue the woman who has captured his heart?

Ravenwood won a Blue Seal Award for first place in the Historical Fiction category at the Ohio Christian Writers Conference in November, 2018. It also earned Rhonda the 2019 Writer of the Year Award in 2019 from Serious Writer, Inc. The manuscript won second place in the Foundation Award competition in the Historical Fiction category at the 2019 Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference, and in 2020, the completed manuscript was selected as a finalist in the ACFW Genesis Contest.

Recent developments in the historical romance genre have brought about a change from the original idea. The setting is being changed to Regency England, a jump forward of almost 300 years. Please visit this page again for updated graphics and excerpts.
